*He couldn't breathe. Couldn't react. It was like he was draggin' ass through quicksand. He saw the glint of steel, choked out a shout to his mate, but he knew that he'd never fucking make it in time. Illy turned in slow motion, the welcoming smile on her face dying as the shadowy female lunged, blade sinking deep.*
Amethyst Ayesha |PF| *She hadn't told Turstin about the incident at the grocery store. She'd likely imagined it, it could happen. Being an agent tended to make you wary and distrustful even in the most normal situations. You had to keep your guard up, that was the life. Then, the feeling continued. While she was at work. When she went to the gym. Even when she was simply sitting out on the deck at the Den, where no prying eyes should ever be. It was beginning to worry her, and she could no longer simply shrug it off.*
*It had started with a text. He'd truly thought it was Illy, she managed to destroy her phone while out scouting locations more often than anyone he knew. Once he'd realized it wasn't his female, he'd tried to think of who the fuck it could be. Tracing the number had revealed a burner phone, no way to trace it. That was even more damn suspicious. He honestly couldn't fucking think of anyone. Arya maybe? One of his many one-nighters in the past? Shit, that list was too fucking long to deal with.*
*Hearing the sound of cursing, as well as banging, his lips twisted into a frown. The cursing was definitely his woman, an irate one at that. The banging? Who the hell knew. Trying to ignore it so he didn't interrupt, another round of cursing made him sit his beer on the end table. Going to stand, he grabbed it again. Might end up needing it for strength, better to keep it at hand. Leaning against the door frame to the opened french doors that overlooked the deck, his lips twitched.* Little bit? Ah... what exactly are you attempting to do?
*Illy had been entertaining Ailwin, so while he was horny as hell, he was attempting to give the siblings time to get to know each other again. Didn't mean he wasn't damned uncomfortable for the time being.*
*Illy'd been using his Jeep for work. He'd stolen Am's, cause fuck if he was letting her drive to headquarters, they wouldn't make it a block. He'd wanted to surprise his mate with something that was less of a damn hazard on the road, preferably something that enabled her to get the hell away from chasers when needed. Instead, he'd ended up staring at glossy advertisements for the latest and greatest shit, and realized that he had zero idea what she'd want. Heaving a sigh, he acknowledged that she'd likely be irritated if he bought her a damn car to begin with, as she demanded to be able to do her fair share in running the household. His smiled at the thought. She kept him fed, clothed, and horny. Wasn't anything else he could ask for, really, he was a simple man.*

*Pulling off the ear protection, she shook her head at Kaden after he did the same. As always, he antagonized the new recruits just to see which would screw up under pressure* Kaden, you realize that "asshole pressure" is different from "in the field pressure"? It's not fair to judge these poor people just because they can't put up with you. I know loads of people that can't put up with you yet would make fine agents. Illy Ryann |PF|
*The bright lights stung my eyes but it was something I was use to. Following the photographers directions, I pose in the ways he asks and act the way I need to, to get the photos right. Afterwards, I quickly get into more comfortable clothes and begin to head out to my car. Kaden has been badgering me about buying me a new car but I keep telling him no. Sure my car is old, rusty, smells of gas, and is probably old enough to retire but it's my car. Fiddling with the lock on the driver door, I twist the key till I hear the loud clunk letting me know it finally unlocked. Okay, so she doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a new car but this is just character.* Amethyst Ayesha |PF|
*Peeking out at the deck, she sighed, glancing at Turstin. When he just shrugged, she straightened her shoulders, heading to the counter to grab a cup of black coffee. Detouring to the refrigerator, she grabbed a bottle of apple juice for herself before sliding the french doors open. Turstin pretended he was busy doing literally anything else, but she knew he'd react quicker than anyone would guess if she appeared to be floundering or scared. Nudging the large feline with her toe, she held the steaming mug up when he lifted his head to look at her* Shift, tiger. Kaden Kaleva |PF|
*He twitched uncomfortably as they drew closer to the doors. While subconsciously he knew that shit would be okay, he was still nervous. He and T had gone through something similar once before, as Am was like his baby sister. But he hadn't actually seen Ry in years. And... yeah. The years before that hadn't been pretty. He knew without even thinking that this entire evening was going to be fucking painful. The door swung open to silence. Raising a brow, he tightened his hand on Illy's slightly in reassurance. Let's hope dipshit managed to keep the past from being shared over dinner, cause that would fucking ruin an appetite.* Assuming they're in the kitchen. Are you ready for this, little bit? There's still time to hop a flight to anywhere-but-here. |
