Landon Turrow |PF| *My parents faces said it all. They were disappointed but not surprised. What did they expect? That I'd obediently marry this girl? Ever since I was a child, I was told how our race was basically dying. That there wasn't enough purebloods. I knew then I would be guilted into marrying another pureblood. I just didn't think it would be now. Rubbing my face, I let out a sigh. From what I've heard of this girl, she was basically perfect. Medical training, could speak more languages than God, and from the rumors, she was the most likely to be voted to be our next leader. All she needed was a pureblooded husband.
Landon Turrow |PF| *A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts and I watch as my mother goes to answer it. I stand and dry my clammy hands on my pants. This was it. Just meet the girl and say no. The door opens to show two anxious faces of parents hoping their stock is up to snuff. Gods it was like being in a meat market. Everyone knew I was 100% against this but by their faces, I could tell they hoped their daughter would catch my eye. As if she wasn't even a person.*
Landon Turrow |PF| *Sighing again, I look down at my feet hoping this would be over quickly and that I could go back out on patrol. Someone stopped in front of me and I look up into a pair of dazzling blue eyes. It was like looking at the sky after the rain had faded away. My breath caught a little as she gave me a smile and a quiet yet confident hello. I just nodded my response, my mouth open slightly. She really was perfect. Pale hair pulled back by a hair clip, small, white tendrils of hair framed a perfect face. There was an awkward silence in the air as Alona stared back at me. Her face light with relief and what looked to be interest. The Gods only know what my face showed but by the happy looks on my parents faces, it was something good* Uh, hi. I'm Landon and I think I found my brain again. Sorry.
Alona Lahaine |PF| *This was it. This was the day. I bite my lip in trepidation as I slowly walk behind my parents. My mind racing a million miles a minute. I know my place in this world and I know where I want to go in it. However, I wasn't going to let myself be in a relationship like my parents. One where my father sleeps with every halfblood he can get his hands on and my mother pretends not to notice. From what I have heard of Landon, he was a lady's man through and through.*
Alona Lahaine |PF| *He also hated arranged marriages, meaning he'd probably hate me. The thought caused me to hold my head up higher. I don't care if his blood is as pure as mine, no one is going to put me down or make me feel small. I worked too hard to be where I am. The butterflies in my stomach sped up into overdrive as we entered Landon's house. He looked as unhappy as I was told he'd be. Deciding to walk over and say hello before turning and leaving, I'm surprised when my greeting is met with an open jaw. Ah what?*
Alona Lahaine |PF| *Landon looks at me like he's seeing the sky for the first time. His eyes slowly travel over my face and hair before he snaps his jaw shut and makes an attempt at humor* Do you lose your brain often or is this more of a one time thing?
Landon Turrow |PF| *Her witty response makes me laugh. She's quick, I like that* Nah, I tend to keep hold of it pretty well most days. *Our parents begin chatting excitedly, probably already planning our wedding. She notices but true to the graceful and strong woman she is, she holds her head high and ignores them. We idly talk for a few minutes but it is hard to find a topic. What do you say to someone you have never met and are suppose to marry? What's your favorite color almost seems childish. Her wit and humor matches mine well so that is at least something I can look forward to.*
Landon Turrow |PF| *Our parents suddenly step in between us and start talking about how great this seems to be going and if we should do it again. Giving a humorless chuckle* Isn't that something Alona and I should figure out? We are both grown adults with grown adult's responsibilities, I'm pretty sure we can figure out our next meeting. *My parents wince at my crassness and Alona's parents seem horrified but it's the smile on Alona's face that has me captivated. She seems to be trying not to laugh. So she too, is tired of their micromanaging*
Alona Lahaine |PF| *His bluntness was refreshing and at the same time surprising. Everyone I know is proper with perfect manners, seeing someone just say how they feel is rare for me* I do believe we can schedule another meeting. How is this Tuesday at noon? *He gives me a half smile then a nod. That wasn't so hard now was it? The tornado of butterflies in my stomach calls me a liar. My parents quickly rush me out of the house and all I can do is call a quick farewell over my shoulder. For people who wanted me to find a husband, they sure are rushing me*
Alona Lahaine |PF| *The walk home is quiet and filled with thoughts of Landon. What I heard has described him perfectly, however, there's something the rumors missed. A kindness as well as something else....a righteousness. He didn't like them interrupting us and he made sure they knew it. In our world, that's very rare. Maybe this won't be so bad after all*
