*He twitched, face screwing up slightly. He felt like an impostor. An animal pretending to be a man. Kaden had made him wear slacks and a clean tee instead of his normal ripped to hell, beat up clothes. He was itchy and damned uncomfortable. He'd been tired of feeling like he wasn't able to be a functioning member of the Den though. He'd tried keeping an eye on the place for the others, but Amethyst had threatened to castrate him. As Turstin had laughed, and even handed his mate a knife, he figured his brother would be no damned help.*
*He'd kept Illy company a bit on her wilderness shoots, but he'd begun to get the impression that having him there more often was interfering with mate time. Not something he wanted to think about. Damn. His kid sister. That shit still ate at him. He'd seen the two together. He didn't have to like it to understand that there'd be no one else for her. His idiot friend brought the stars in Illy's eyes to the surface.*
*No... the hard part was realizing that Kaden had been there for all the things he hadn't been. That, like it or not, as soon as he'd found his siblings, he'd had to adjust to the sensation of realizing he'd need to let them go in order to stay part of this fucked up family they'd created. And so he'd gone to Kaden. Offering his services to the organization currently protecting their asses and keeping their bills paid. They always needed informants on the ground. Who better than someone who had been an informant for years and had never been outed? His cover was still rock fucking solid.*
*He could do a few intel missions, be back home at the Den more often than not. He'd be contributing. He was ashamed to admit that was the biggest thing bothering him. He'd kept his life savings with him. He'd used it to help with improvements to the Den security. He'd bought a riding mower. Had gone overboard with grabbing things for the homes that he'd thought his siblings would like. But he still didn't feel like he was helping. At least if he had something resembling employment, he'd feel like less of a damn deadbeat.*
*So here he stood in the lobby of Psiforce. Unsure where the fuck to go or what he was doing here. Glancing up as a female in a short skirt passed by giving him an appreciative glance, he forced a smile on his face* Any chance you'd know where some poor dumb lost fuck should go to speak to the General? Kaleva sent me. *Her smile widened as she offered her hand. His tiger growled inwardly... whenever possible he avoided contact with strangers. Shoving his instincts down, he shook her hand, hastily letting go as she turned to lead him to his past, and what could possibly be his future. Here went nothing.*
